Description

LIMRA/LOMA, and our parent organization, LL Global, Inc., is the world’s largest association of life insurance and financial services companies, which together represent more than 1,300 members across 64 countries, including most of the world’s largest life insurance companies. We are currently recruiting for the position of Research Director, Retail Retirement.

This position resides within the Secure Retirement Institute
TM (SRI®), which provides comprehensive, unbiased research and education covering all aspects of the retirement industry. SRI helps members across the financial services retirement landscape to understand and address the challenges Americans face surrounding retirement.

The Research Director, Retail Retirement is a subject matter expert in individual retirement markets, such as IRAs, rollovers, and wealth management, who will shape our research agenda, conduct analyses, execute studies, write reports, and deliver presentations to an insurance and financial services audience. Candidates for this position should be accomplished professionals with the ability to provide insight for improving member companies’ product development, marketing, and distribution effectiveness.

Job Duties:

  • Working with the SRI team, identify topics for investigation based on deep understanding of industry trends, gaps in existing research, and opportunities to provide value to membership.
  • Lead, design, and conduct research studies on retail retirement markets
  • Interpret data, integrate findings with external research and prior SRI studies.
  • Communicate research results, along with insights and business implications.
  • Publish research reports, infographics, and articles in SRI publications and trade press.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at committee meetings, conferences, and member companies.
  • Respond to requests for information related to assigned projects and areas of expertise from members, staff, and the media.
  • Maintain an understanding of developments in areas of expertise, including the retirement market and research techniques.
    • Attend industry meetings
    • Monitor industry issues to the area of expertise
    • Read professional and industry publications
  • Facilitate discussion for one or more industry roundtables per year.
        Required Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the retirement and/or financial services industry, especially IRAs, rollovers, and wealth management

  • An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate), and/or 8 to 10 years of experience in the Financial Services industry or related industry

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of workplace retirement plans (e.g., 401(k), 403(b), 457) or annuities

  • Ability to write reports and articles

  • Oral communication & presentation skills to present results of research

  • Familiarity with one or more data analysis applications (such as SAS, SPSS)

  • Knowledge of survey design, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task
    Ability to take initiative, working independently or as part of a team
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
