Financial and Business Planning Analyst

 

Do you have a strong financial and business acumen and a desire to help an industry leader make forward-thinking, data driven business decisions that drive growth? Put your expertise to work at LOMA, an Atlanta-based research and education trade association for the insurance, retirement, and financial services industries, serving the needs of more than 1,200 member companies across 64 countries. We are currently looking for a strategic, analytical thinker with at least 2 years of financial analysis and/or data analysis experience to join our team as a Financial & Business Planning Analyst.

 

More than 40,000 individuals across the world enroll for LOMA’s high quality education and training courses and programs as a part of their professional development. In this challenging and exciting role, you’ll work as part of LOMA’s Education & Training (E&T) Division, analyzing financial and business data to research and recommend new products to meet member needs, coordinate with other units in developing strategies for introducing products to the market, and support internal partners in achieving sales and marketing goals to grow LOMA’s education business. In addition, you will play a lead role in preparing the Division’s budget and other financial reports and monitoring results.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Develop and maintain robust excel-based financial models

  • Analyzing a variety of business and financial data to make projections, recommend pricing, and to support E&T Division managers in considering potential product opportunities and making general business decisions.

  • Leading in preparation of the annual budget for the division, working collaboratively with managers, staff, and Accounting Department

  • Routinely monitoring the Division’s financial performance against budgeted projections and investigating of variances

  • Using problem-solving skills to determine ways to increase divisional profitability, improve processes, and increase efficiency

  • Completing a variety of business analysis activities involved in taking products to market

  • Supporting the Division’s administration of a variety of customer surveys, analyzing results, and developing summary reports to share managers, internal partners, and members

     

     

    Minimum requirements for the position include:

     

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field

  • Minimum of two years of financial analysis and/or data analysis experience

  • Ability to handle competing priorities in a dynamic business environment

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills and strong attention to detail

  • Effective time management skills and flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate and collaborate with colleagues at all organizational levels

  • Advanced Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.

  • The ability to perform trend analysis and a broad understanding of how to apply statistical concepts in business situations

  • Comfortable using a variety of tools and technology, including SharePoint, online survey tools, and business intelligence/reporting tools

  • Insurance/financial services industry experience is preferred, but not required. Regardless of background, the incumbent must earn LOMA’s ALMI or ASRI professional designation within the first 18 months of employment.
