Senior Research Analyst – Workplace Benefits Research

We are seeking a Senior Research Analyst for our Workplace Benefits Research department.

The Big Picture:

We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and creative researcher with a strong customer-service mindset to join LIMRA’s Workplace Benefits Research team. The ideal candidate loves working with data and numbers to uncover actionable insights and “stories” that will help our members achieve their business goals. The ability to work in a collaborative environment with both teammates and customers but also comfortable working independently is essential.

What will you be doing?
An individual in this role is responsible for directing several established research studies and designing and executing new surveys, while developing an expertise in one or more areas of workplace benefits.  The Senior Research Analyst is also responsible for establishing and maintaining good relationships with member company contacts and for collaborating effectively with fellow researchers and other LIMRA teams.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Conduct assigned research surveys with the purpose of benchmarking key workplace benefits metrics.
  • Collecting and ensuring accuracy of data received from member companies and other sources.
  • Exhibiting a working knowledge of research methodologies specific to analyzing data.
  • Utilizing data analysis tools for data manipulation and analysis
  • Understanding and explaining industry trends using data collected from assigned research projects.
  • Analyzing, reporting, and answering questions about assigned projects and workplace benefits metrics and trends.
  • Interacting with member companies through a variety of communication methods (email, virtual meetings, phone, social media, etc.).

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor’s Degree (mathematics, research, economics, statistics, or related field)
  • A minimum of five years of insurance, workplace benefits, or related company experience
  • Insurance industry knowledge, with a special emphasis on workplace benefits
  • Quantitative survey design and related skills a plus
  • Must possess an intermediate skill level in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and basic skill level in SQL, VBA, or other data analysis software.
  • Attention to detail, research, fact-checking, and validation skills to ensure valid data sources and verify accuracy
  • Mathematics and statistics skills to work with data and develop reports; ability to recognize patterns to find useful information in data that is sometimes unstructured
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
