LOMA is an international research and education association for the insurance and financial services industry. LOMA is under the umbrella of LL Global, Inc., a not-for-profit trade association, which provides a unified management structure with operating divisions LOMA and LIMRA. We are the trusted source for industry knowledge.

Currently we are looking for an experienced professional who has some business development background for our Insurance Operations/Information Management product area. This position will report directly to the 2nd Vice President, Management Solutions.

 

The position is a mid-level individual contributor role; it is not an

entry level or management role.

LOMA and LIMRA’s Conferences and Committee Department develops, manages and supports 10 conferences and 30 committees with the purpose of creating forums for the exchange of information in the life insurance and financial services industry. This role will have dual responsibilities in the areas of business development as well as a liaison for several of our Committees.

Responsibilities

Business Development Sales prospecting to generate leads through research and evaluating technology and other companies providing services related to the subject of our conferences with the goal to identify and recommend new sponsors. Develop proposals for existing and new prospective sponsors. Follow up pre-conference and post-conference with current and recent conference sponsors to determine level of interest in ongoing sponsorship. Responsibilities are business development evolving into sponsorship sales.

Committee Liaison Serve as the liaison to four to seven LOMA committees consisting of employees of life insurance companies who meet to discuss and exchange information regarding best practices and trends in the insurance and financial services industry. Responsibilities include attending meetings to evaluate committee material for prospective sponsors for conferences, content for conference programs, possible publication or industry surveys or studies.

Requirements

  • Business Development or B2B sales, 3 - 5 years’ experience preferred

  • Solid insurance industry background, 3 -5 years’ experience, with a strong understanding of evolving products, trends and strategies in the insurance industry. Ideal candidate will have expertise in operations or technology solutions supporting an insurance product line of business such as life insurance, annuities or retirement plans.

  • Utilize customer contact system (Salesforce) for client contact tracking.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Strong project management skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle several projects simultaneously. Equally important is the ability to work effectively as a team member with internal and external clients.
  • Excellent time management skills, organization skills, and attention to detail, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal, business development skills
  • Strong PC skills. Experience working with databases (Excel, Access) preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills appropriate for a management audience
  • Negotiation skills.
  • FLMI or other insurance related designation a plus.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Social Media a plus.
  • Travel required about 15% of the time (most travel is typically scheduled 90 days in advance).
