Description

LIMRA and LOMA currently have an opportunity for a full-time hybrid Legal Operations Manager to join our Legal team.

We are looking for an experienced Legal Operations Manager who is a self-starter, has strong organizational skills, and will provide overall operations management for the Legal Department.

Reporting to the Head of the Legal function, this position will be focused on developing and implementing processes for streamlining the legal contract cycle to better serve multi-disciplinary internal clients, members/customers across our two brands and various products and solutions. 

You will also be responsible for conducting the initial review and analysis of legal contracts from operational units such as Finance, Facilities, IT, Marketing, etc.

Department Operations:

  • Identify and manage enterprise-level legal projects, including redundancies, operations gaps and inefficiencies.  Assist Head of Legal to resolve issues and implement procedures and best practices. 
  • Provide strategic support and management of corporate initiatives.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the organization and its business to spot issues and provide effective recommendations related to efficient and successful resolution of same.
  • Serve as a go-to resource to internal LIMRA LOMA staff and management on legal operations matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, business unit support and service, marketing, business development, IT, and finance.
  • Prepare and coordinate the completion of corporate legal filings, annual reports and registrations.
  • Assist in Board of Directors matters.

Legal Review:                                     

  • Conduct initial review and analysis of legal requests from internal clients and senior management in connection with Convening, Facilities, IT, Marketing, Finance and other corporate operations departments. 
  • Manage contract templates and routinely advise on best practices
  • Serve as contractual liaison between LLG staff and the other parties, ensuring timely review, approval and/or reconciliation of requested variations to standard contract terms and conditions.
  • Partner with business leads in negotiating with outside parties on routine modifications to contract terms.
  • Provide authorized signatures as directed by Head of Legal.
  • Provide back-up support for Enterprise Paralegal in managing Salesforce contract log.

 

Administrative functions:                                                       

  • Develop and manage legal policies and templates to ensure quick and effective implementation of same.
  • Process legal invoices, outside counsel invoices, and expense reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, legal operations, organizational behavior or related disciplines.
  • 7 – 10 years’ experience in business management across several functional and operational and sales departments.
  • Experience with short-term and long-term planning.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work independently with minimal oversight, and meet changing demands from multiple sources (including Head of Legal and senior leaders).
  • Proven track record of working with cross-functional groups to set objective and move projects forward.  Ability to navigate/build relationships and to collaborate at all levels of the organization. Client service oriented.
  • Experience in contract review and basic drafting of MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, ICAs, and other legal agreements in a corporate or legal environment.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and responsiveness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally with a diverse range of internal clients and external customers; comfortable sharing ideas.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.   
  • Confidence to partner with multi-disciplined team to problem solve, coordinate, and implement corporate policies and best practices.
  • Strong work ethic, business sense, issue spotting and interpersonal skills; considerable discretion and diplomacy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat and other office systems. 
  • Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • International business experience is a plus.
