LIMRA/LOMA is looking for Data Analyst Intern to join the Research Data Services department. This position is a full-time hybrid position.  In this role, you will work closely with LIMRA’s data analysts and researchers on data exploration, validation, editing, analysis, and visualization. Responsibilities include understanding the business requirements of each project, working with a senior data analyst to select the appropriate analytical tools, and applying established best practices to your work. In addition, you work under the direction of a senior analyst to provide data analytic support for various benchmark studies, including maintaining various research databases and visualization dashboards. This position is ideal for you if you're interested in furthering your technical skills and working with industry thought leaders, data experts, and cutting-edge technologies. In addition, you will have the opportunity to do the following:

  • Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from various sources.
  • Build and maintain robust programs in R or Python to streamline manual data processes.
  • Perform data validation and ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Provide technical support responsible for ad hoc data requests.
  • Perform other analytical duties as needed.

What you will need to succeed:
 

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program (junior or senior year) or recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related STEM field.
  • Basic knowledge of programming concepts and basic statistical measures.
  • Basic knowledge of R, Python, SQL, SAS or other similar coding language.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and basic knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Experience manipulating large datasets using SQL or SAS.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
